Volunteer Experiences

I've always been inspired to help the communities around me, both as an engineer and as a person. I've been honoured with the many opportunities to help with organizations focused towards community growth, sustainability, and building stronger futures to those around me. I hope to highlight not only my own experiences with these organizations, but also actively spread awareness to their causes and motivations as well through this page.

Motivation

I have always held a passion to make an impact in the lives of those around me, not only through my professional and academic careers, but also through my own personal goals. In this way, I hope to be centered towards making a difference in everything I do, whether it is engineering a world that empowers the communities and future generations to come or through my active role as a tutor, mentor, and volunteer.

Organization Highlights

I would like to highlight some of my most current volunteer organizations whom I've had the honour of working with as a volunteer,  and through which I have met the most amazing people from all across the world.

Mission

Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence.

Personal Work/Involvement:

I have been an active volunteer for Shelter Movers and push myself to join as many moves as I can, whenever I am in Toronto. I love being able to meet people and hear their stories through this role. I especially am inspired by my own personal experiences in the difficulties and uncertainties that moving can bring and will always be honoured to help those facing these many uncertainties by providing a service that allows peace of mind for at least one aspect of the move process.

Mission

Run by a small but dedicated team, SFT is currently home to over 500 animals including over 400 dogs, 120 cats, 30 donkeys and many more. As well as supporting the animals in our care, every year we are faced with hundreds of cases of neglect, abuse and cruelty.

Personal Work/Involvement:

I volunteered for SFT in Morocco during a three-week winter term through my school. During my time at SFT, I aided in the construction of a building that would provide housing for the volunteers and staff at SFT. I also loved being able to meet all the many animals who have found homes with SFT and loved hearing their stories.
